Jacksonville Jaguars invite Jarvis Landry to workout at rookie minicamp
Nathan Ray Seebeck-USA TODAY Sports

On the hunt for a team to join in 2024, former Dolphins star Jarvis Landry is working out for the Jacksonville Jaguars during the team’s rookie minicamp, according to NFL insider Tom Pelissero. The five-time Pro Bowler didn’t play last season, but at 31, Landry is healthy and ready to play once again.

Jacksonville had nine picks in the 2024 NFL Draft over the weekend. They added one wide receiver, using their No. 23 selection in the first round to draft former LSU star Brian Thomas Jr. Landry will have Thomas Jr. as well as defensive tackles Maason Smith and Jordan Jefferson with him as fellow LSU alums at Jaguars rookie minicamp.

In his first four years with the Browns, Landy played in 59 games with 288 receptions for 3,560 yards and 15 touchdowns. With the Dolphins, he had 400 receptions for 4,038 yards and 22 touchdowns in 64 games.

Although Landry thrived in the NFL for the Dolphins and Browns, he had a career-low in production in 2021, only catching 52 passes for 570 yards. Disagreements with the Browns franchise led to his release, leaving him free to sign with the Saints in 2022. After signing with New Orleans, he played just nine games, tallying 25 receptions on 39 targets. He racked up 272 yards with one touchdown.

Landry finished his tenure at LSU as one of the most productive wide receivers in school history. He had 137 catches for 1,809 yards and 15 touchdowns. The wideout played for three years before going in the second round of the NFL Draft to the Dolphins.

More on the 2024 NFL offseason, free agency

The NFL 2024 calendar year began at 4 p.m. ET on March 13. At that time, contracts running through 2023 officially ran out, making those players free agents. Prior to the beginning of free agency, teams had a chance to designate one franchise or transition tag player, starting on Feb. 20 at 4 p.m. ET and ending on March 5. Beginning March 11 through March 13 teams could enter into a legal negotiation with players who will become unrestricted free agents.

In addition to NFL free agency, the new year also marked the beginning of all trades being made official by the league office. April 19 marked the deadline to sign restricted free agents to offer sheets. On April 24, the deadline for teams to match restricted free agent offer sheets hit. Following the restricted free agent deadline followed the 2024 NFL Draft, which ran from April 25-27.
