Kentucky basketball’s Reed Sheppard blows minds with bonkers vertical at NBA Draft Combine

The NBA Combine has officially begun as prospects are showing off their talents for the league. On Monday, Kentucky basketball star, Reed Sheppard turned heads after displaying a surprising vertical at the combine.

Reports indicate that Sheppard recorded a 42-inch max vertical at the NBA Combine, per Jonathan Givony of ESPN. The Kentucky basketball star may have raised his draft stock thanks to his vertical.

Between his impressive vertical and solid production at Kentucky, Reed Sheppard is looking like a great prospect for the upcoming NBA Draft. Not only can he jump with the best of them but he also averaged 12.5 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game. He has the potential to serve as a legitimate guard in the league and can play both point and shooting guard positions.

Sheppard is pegged to be a top-five selection in the NBA Draft this year. He proved to be a reliable shooter for Kentucky basketball and his ability to pass and rebound makes him an incredibly reliable asset. Reed Sheppard should step in and play meaningful minutes at the professional level right away and he still has room to grow into a consistent starter in the NBA.

With that said, it’ll be interesting to see where he lands in the NBA Draft. The Kentucky basketball star shouldn’t last long on draft day as he was one of the most consistent guards in college basketball last season.

Best possible fits for Kentucky basketball’s Reed Sheppard in the NBA Draft

Many believe Sheppard is the third-best prospect in this year’s NBA Draft class. If that’s the case, he could be the pick made at No. 3 overall to the Houston Rockets. He’d fit in nicely behind Fred VanVleet and Jalen Green and has the potential of being an immediate sixth man for Houston. But at the very least, Reed Sheppard could be a great role player until he (hopefully) develops into a larger role down the road.

Another team that would be a great fit for the Kentucky basketball star is the San Antonio Spurs. Having him paired up with Victor Wembanyama would be a dream come true for this franchise. Especially considering how well of a shooter and passer Reed Sheppard is. The Spurs would be able to continue building around Wembanyama and maintain its young core amid the rebuild.

One more team that would be a great fit is the Charlotte Hornets. They own the sixth pick overall so they would need Reed Sheppard to fall to them if they don’t trade up. The Kentucky basketball star could be a great two-guard for Charlotte and has the potential to play in the starting lineup right away. His consistent shooting would be a great asset to this team and he’d be open quite often with all of the attention on LaMelo Ball, Brandon Miller, and Miles Bridges.
